BACKGROUND: The New Year marks the commencement of a more focused global effort concerning Climate Change:
-- Most folks engaged directly or indirectly in the investment management industry know, of course, how important it is to reduce carbon emissions that are causing the Earth’s temperatures to rise. This challenge is at least every bit as complicated as COVID, as it entails many complex medical, business, geo-political, cultural, cost, and economic policy issues – and the clock is indeed ticking!
-- Asset Managers Tech (AMT), a not for profit trade group, can offer unique assistance & services within our Climate Change PANEL. In part, that’s because newly published analysis regarding how to get to the bottom of broad social & business challenges recommends that groups like AMT can actually crystallize profound climate change issues for its colleagues & members by talking about them. The idea is to publicly “humanize” potential climate change proposals or solutions via discussion, and in turn hopefully facilitate education & consideration of further opportunities in this area for investors and the industry.
-- Our Leaders on industry initiatives include AMT’s Medical Adviser, Stanley Zaborowski, M.D., along with Xavier Touret, a Senior Industry Executive and a Co-Founder of AMT. As noted above, AMT is launching its CLIMATE CHANGE PANEL on Zoom on 1/13/2022. Moreover, we are inviting, among others, principally retired and semi-retired volunteers and also current investors in the securities markets to serve as PANEL participants. Indeed, we also intend to focus on the thrust of anticipated Securities and Exchange Commission pronouncements concerning ESG and mutual funds as well as any other relevant policy positions from bank regulatory authorities.
